I do believe that every person has an equal opportunity to be a good and wise judge, regardless of their background or life experiences.” – Sonia Sotomayor [1]
The Sky's the Limit: Sonia Sotomayor's Climb up the Professional Legal Ladder
Who is Sonia Sotomayor?
Sonia Sotomayor is a Supreme Court Justice for the United States High Federal Court. She was nominated by former President of the United States, Barack Obama, on May 26, 2009, to become a Supreme Court Justice. [2] Even before she was nominated, she had been successful in all she did and has become a role model to all. |
Thesis:
At a time when women and other minority groups were fighting for equality, a barrier existed that kept women from progressing up the professional legal ladder. That barrier was broken on May 26, 2009, when Sonia Sotomayor, a Puerto Rican Supreme Court Justice, became the first Hispanic woman to serve in the high court. She proved that Hispanic women that come from a lower societal class are able to achieve and succeed in executive level careers. |
